ToxHQ to Utilize New Safety Assessment Lab

Dr Tatyana Doktorova to open Douglas Connect's new lab

Named Douglas Connect’s Senior Toxicologist in March 2017, Tatyana was soon at the heart of Douglas Connect’s community development efforts (e.g., OpenTox), its support of collaborative research projects (EUToxRisk, OpenRiskNet), and its development of innovative solutions in safety assessment for industry pursued within ToxHQ. She has also taken on responsibility for creating the company’s new Safety Assessment Laboratory.

The New Journey

The new journey from research to industry and regulatory practice

One of the main messages of the Global Regulatory Science Summit held in Brasilia in September was that decision-making about safety assessment is undergoing a major transition. Many new types of heterogeneous scientific data must now be integrated as evidence into assessments. And, as medicine becomes more personalised, increasing amounts of data on individuals must also be managed.

Working Together on Safety Assessment

Sometimes we forget that science is about people. And how one conversation can define a solution or take research in a new direction. This was already true in Einstein’s day. Now, with 21st Century science demanding the combination of so many divergent specialties, it is even more important. Bringing together communities and related collaborations would seem the best way to proceed.
